About the MYgreenlight project

MYgreenlight gives you the tools to achieve real change with your horse, whatever your discipline. It’s not horse training or rider training; it works on the space in between – the relationship.

Working with horses has traditionally involved making a horse do what you want when you want. And that’s a skill. But there’s a growing community of people who also dream about having a willing and cheerful companion in their yard. And it’s for those people that MYgreenlight has been put together.

Your horse’s response to everything you do can be classified as signalling a red light (‘stop’), an amber light (‘I’m putting up with this but I’m not happy about it’) or a green light (‘yes! Let’s go!’). Sometimes we miss the lights, particularly the ambers. Sometimes we see them but don’t know how to change them, so we can’t proceed without just forcing our way forward.

MYgreenlight gives you elegant tools to identify and interpret the reds and ambers, in order to turn them green. Perhaps most valuably of all, it gives you the guts to take no for an answer, today. And helps you come back tomorrow with a better question.

The outcome? The outcome is a safer, happier, funner horsekeeping life. No, funner isn’t a word, but it should be.

Continuing Support

If you like the MYgreenlight approach and find the methods helpful, you can dive in and explore all the routes to green. I’d love to meet you on the inside. If you’re one of the people who want to dive deeper into understanding their horses, you might benefit from the anatomical and behavioural information offered, in addition to groundwork and bodywork strategies you can use to assess and improve your relationship. There’s an option for workshopping your own situation, and there’s a wise community of people who won’t use phrases like ‘just show him who’s boss’, ‘tighten up that noseband’ and ‘don’t let him muck you about’. On the more challenging days you might find that a real help.
